These terms apply to velocitygroup.net.au and to anyone visiting or using our café at 42 Burnley Street, Richmond VIC. By using our site or visiting the café, you agree to these terms.
1. Who we are
Velocity Group Pty Ltd (ABN 12 345 678 901) operates the café and the website. References to "Velocity Group", "we", "us" and "our" mean Velocity Group Pty Ltd.
2. Using our website
You agree to use the site only for lawful purposes and in a way that doesn't infringe other people's rights or restrict their enjoyment of the site. In particular, you agree not to:
- Try to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, or to any server, computer or database connected to the site.
- Use the site to transmit any viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
- Scrape, copy or republish material from the site for commercial purposes without our written consent.
- Misuse the contact form (for example, sending unsolicited marketing, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, or obscene).
We may suspend or terminate access to the site if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms.
3. Information we publish
We work hard to keep information on the site accurate and up to date — including menu items, prices, opening hours, and allergens. However, mistakes can happen. The following are invitations to treat rather than binding offers:
- Menu items and their descriptions
- Listed prices (in store and online)
- Opening hours and trading days
- Reservation availability shown in the booking form
The actual contract for a coffee, a meal, or a bag of beans is formed at the till, with the price shown at that moment.
4. Australian Consumer Law
Under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (which includes the Australian Consumer Law), our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. These include guarantees that:
- Services are provided with due care and skill, and are fit for the purpose they were supplied for.
- Goods are of acceptable quality, match their description, and are fit for any purpose we said they were fit for.
If a good or service fails one of these guarantees, you are entitled to a remedy (which may be a repair, replacement, or refund, depending on the circumstances). Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
5. Reservations
When you make a reservation through our website:
- You confirm that the details you provide (name, contact, party size, date and time) are accurate.
- We hold your table for 15 minutes past the booked time. After that, we may release the table to other guests.
- For groups of 6 or more, we ask for a credit card to hold the booking, and a $20 per-person deposit may apply for weekend evenings. We will tell you at the time of booking if a deposit applies.
- If you need to cancel, please give us at least 4 hours' notice so we can offer the table to someone else. You can cancel by replying to the confirmation email or by calling us.
- For private events, separate terms apply and will be agreed in writing.
6. Café conduct
We want Velocity Group to be a welcoming space for everyone. We ask that you:
- Treat our staff, other guests, and the room with respect.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Keep noise reasonable, especially during peak times.
- Don't bring outside food or alcohol for consumption on the premises.
We reserve the right to ask anyone who behaves in a threatening, abusive, or otherwise unacceptable way to leave.
7. Allergens and dietary requirements
We take allergies seriously. Our menu indicates common allergens (gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, sesame, fish) and we list vegan and vegetarian options. However, our kitchen is small and cross-contamination is possible. If you have a serious allergy, please tell your server when you order so we can advise what's safe for you.
8. Pricing and payment
- All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST.
- We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
- Menu prices may change without notice. The price displayed at the till is the price you pay.
- Tips and gratuities are appreciated but never expected. All tips go to the team and are shared fairly.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this site — including text, photographs, design, our logo, and the Velocity Group name — is owned by Velocity Group Pty Ltd or used with permission. You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. Anything else (reproducing, modifying, distributing) requires our written consent.
If you'd like to use one of our photos (for a magazine, blog, or similar), please email hello@velocitygroup.net.au and we'll usually say yes.
10. Third-party links
Our site may link to third-party websites (Instagram, Google Maps, our roaster's site, etc.). We're not responsible for the content or practices of those sites — they have their own terms.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Any indirect, consequential, or punitive damage arising from your use of the site.
- Loss or damage caused by events outside our reasonable control (for example, internet outages, weather events, or supplier failures).
Where liability cannot be excluded (including under the Australian Consumer Law), our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law — typically, the cost of re-supplying the service or replacing the goods.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the "last updated" date at the top. If the changes are material, we will let you know by email if you're on our list, or by a notice on the site.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the Federal Court of Australia.
